Dr. William Roberds

Founder & Owner

Dr. Roberds is an internationally recognized expert in uncertainty/probabilistic analysis, risk assessment/management, and decision analysis. With almost 50 years of experience advising both public and private sector clients, he has applied his expertise to some of the world’s most complex capital development projects and operational systems, including those in sensitive or decommissioned states, for example, redevelopment of Lower Manhattan after September 11, 2001 for US FTA/FEMA and disposal of nuclear waste for US DOE/NRC.

Prior to founding Roberds Risk Management LLC, he was a long-time (42 years!) Senior Partner at Golder, a 7,000-person international geo-environmental and mining consultancy, which was acquired by one of the world’s top and much larger professional services firms WSP in 2022, who has retained his services.

William earned a Bachelor of Science (BS cum laude) in Civil Engineering in 1973, and a Master of Science (MSc) in 1975 and Doctor of Science (ScD) in 1979 in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering from MIT.  He has served on numerous national and international committees and presented numerous keynotes, and was awarded an ASCE Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017, regarding risk assessment/management.

Dr. Roberds is supported by a small-team as needed to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality work.
